2024 Coaches Info from NESA


Thank you on behalf of NESA for stepping up and coaching this year.  We could not play ball this season without you!

 

Information for U11, U13, U15, U17 & U19 Divisions

  1. Staff Registration in RAMP - click the link for instructions on how to register. Please register your staff members ASAP. Each team should have a Head Coach and Manager and up to three Assistant Coaches, for a maximum of 5 staff members.

      1. NESA requires that one Staff member MUST be female. 
      2. Screening is an important part of providing a safe and secure sporting environment. Softball Manitoba requires that all Head coaches, Assistant Coaches and Managers have a Criminal Record Check completed. This check will be good for five (5) seasons. Therefore, if you have one from the last five years, please just upload it to RAMP at time of registering yourself as a coach.
        1. If you live in Winnipeg, please use THIS LINK to complete your CRC. NESA will reimburse the cost of the CRC. Please send receipts to Julie Van Leeuwen treasurer@northeastsoftball.ca.
        2. If you live in rural Manitoba, please go through your local RCMP where your CRC will be free when you present THIS LETTER 
      3. NOTE: ALL COACHES AND MANAGERS MUST HAVE THEIR RESPECT IN SPORT CERTIFICATION WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO REGISTER WITH SOFTBALL MANITOBA. ONLY REGISTERED COACHING STAFF ARE ALLOWED ON A TEAM’S BENCH.  (please go to the following website to fully understand coaching requirements - https://www.softball.mb.ca/content/nccp-coaching-requirements and NESA website) Please contact Lori Campbell @  secretary@northeastsoftball.ca with any questions or concerns.
      4. If your team will be attending provincials, one coach on your team must have the following credentials: NESA WILL COVER ALL COST OF COURSES AND CHECKS - please provide receipt to Julie van Leeuwen at treasurer@northeastsoftball.ca and she will ensure reimbursement is completed. 
        1. Multi-Sport Module: Making Ethical Decisions (2 hour online course) 
        2. Foundations of Coaching Softball: Part 1 (must be complete prior to NCCP Community Softball Clinic) (2.5 hour online course)
        3. Ongoing Participaction Community Softball: Trained (NCCP Certified - A Ball) (May 6th or May 27th - In Person at Sport for Life 8 hours. Register here
        4. Plus, the standard Respect in Sport and CRC/VSS check 
  2. Safety manager is not required for the 2024 ball season.  
  3. Team formation will be completed April 10. You will receive your rosters shortly after that.
  4. Equipment is managed by Julie Bell. Julie will be contacting all the coaches.
  5. Uniforms - all teams will be provided with “North East Storm” jerseys. Our colors are Navy, Orange and White. A $75 deposit check is required for each jersey. The check will only be cashed if the jersey is not returned. Jerseys will only be handed out to players who have a deposit check.  
  6. Practice Diamonds - Visit the Google sheet to view/how to request available dates and times.
    1. Permits are effective starting May 1, until then, diamond availability is on a first come, first serve basis.
    2. If your home diamond is East St Paul, please contact Julie van Leeuwen @ treasurer@northeastsoftball.ca for booking requirements.
  7. Game Schedule - will be released as soon as possible.
  8. There will be a “Head Coach” group set up on WhatsApp. Please ensure that you have the WhatsApp app on your phone to be included. This will allow for quick access to NESA and faster responses to all.

  11. Tournaments
    1. NESA, together with Softball Manitoba Umpires, will be hosting the Ice Breaker tournament the weekend of May 10-12 for the U13 and U15 Divisions. More information will be available shortly.
    2. NESA will be sending all teams to the CRSL championships this year. If your individual team would like to enter provincials you can do so on your own.
    3. All other tournaments are posted on Softball Manitoba's website.

  4. Coaches meetings
    1. For Timbits coaches, teams with players aged 4-7. This will be an information/training session for Timbits coaches. We strongly recommend all head coaches attend, even if you've coached in the past. If a head coach cannot attend, please arrange for an assistant coach from your team to attend. Date is TBD.
    2. For U9 coaches. this will be an information/training session for coaches. We strongly recommend all head coaches attend, even if you've coached in the past. If a head coach cannot attend, please arrange for an assistant coach from your team to attend. Date is set for April 22 from 8-10am at Gateway Recreation Centre. Please bring a glove and indoor shoes.
  5. Equipment and Uniforms will be available for pick up at the respective Coaches meetings.
    1. Equipment is managed by Julie Bell. Julie will be contacting all the coaches.
  6. Uniforms - all teams will be provided with “Timbits” jerseys. These jerseys do not need to be returned. 
  7. Game Schedule - will be emailed to you once the schedule is finalized. You can expect to have the schedule after April 26.
  8. There will be a “Timbits/U9 Head Coach” group set up on WhatsApp.  Please ensure that you have the WhatsApp app on your phone to be included. This will allow for quick access to NESA and faster responses to all. 
  9. Reporting Scores - Timbits and U9 do not keep score, so this is not necessary.
