Manitoba Thunder & North East Softball Joint Announcement

Announcement
Manitoba Thunder/North East Softball Association

We are pleased to inform the membership of Manitoba Thunder and the North East Softball Associations that we are officially able to formally announce that a partnership has been formed.

Softball Manitoba has made significant changes to the designations and boundaries at all levels of Softball in Manitoba. The Winnipeg "A" Organizations, Manitoba Angels, Winnipeg Lightning, Smitty’s, and Manitoba Thunder, along with the Rural Area "A" Organizations Central Energy, Eastman Wildcats, Interlake Phillies and the Westman Magic will now be classified as "AAA". The "B" classification for all Urban and Rural Organizations will now be "A". Further, a new "AA" classification has been created with the hope that the "AAA" Organizations will work together with the "A" Organizations in their area to eventually field teams in the new "AA" classification.

The Softball Manitoba boundaries in the Winnipeg area have been divided into four "Regions" representing the four current organizations. The Manitoba Thunder’s boundary is “East of the Red River, north of Red River, north of Provencher/Dugald Road, as per the electoral boundaries of the City of Winnipeg, adding athletes residing in the South Transcona Community Club”.

As the boundaries for Manitoba Thunder and NESA are closely aligned, athletes who reside in NESA’s catchment and fall within the electoral boundaries of the City of Winnipeg are eligible to play for Manitoba Thunder.

Therefore, given the implementation of the boundaries we are excited that a strong relationship between NESA and Manitoba Thunder has been developed.

We believe that the two organizations working together will be well suited to grow girls softball in the North East area. Working together will also provide for enhanced player/coach development, facility usage, and opportunities to work with certified Softball Clinicians and Coaches.

Stay tuned, stay safe, we will have more news to share in the future, as we move forward.

Sincerely,
Presidents:
Ken Stewart, Manitoba Thunder
Daphne Wiebe, North East Softball
